When you already booked your tour and want to know more about how can you seize your stay or just preparing what will you need, this is the right article. If you dont have any tour plan booked, do it right now before you go. I highly recommend it because Karimun Jawa is newly grown tourist atrraction. People dont speak english there. Even you speak indonesian, you cant find the 'boat guy' to rent easily.
So you booked your tour, you have your daily tour plan in your hand, here more to go:
1. When you go with speed boat even from semarang (Kartini) or jepara (Bahari Express) dont just stay inside the deck. You probably have the chance to see the dolphins following your boat outside. I cant say the exact time, usually i will notice it when some people screamed. So far i never saw dolphins when i went with ferry from Jepara, but some people said they did.
2. If you stay more than 2 day, hunting sunrise is interesting. The beaches along Nirwana Hotel beach is okay (because you have to pay entrance in Nirawana Hotel Beach). Not every tour provide this sunrise but you can ask your guide how to go there. But how? I'll answer soon.
3. Going with motorcycle in karimun jawa is truly a must-do. There is almost no traffic, which make you comfortable to drive thru and you can explore the island more. Lets say you star your tour at 8 am. If you wake up at 5 or 6 am you'll have 2 hours to enjoy sunrise. Or in your last day when your speed boat leave at 11 am will be the right time to go around more in the island.
4. There is a mangrove conservation area in Karimun Jawa. Woodenpaths are build to lead you walk around the mangrove from the inner side. (Motorcycle tour)
5. In your tour you will make islands hop! Make sure u charge your energy the night before, because its gonna be exhausting but fun! Bring crackers and feed the zebra fishes! waterproofed suncream is needed if you dont wanna get bad sunburn. Bottled water is a help for your dehydration.
6. PLEASE watch out when you snorkell. I realize that tourists give a big contribution of destroyal of the corals in karimunjawa islands. I saw mostly non-swimmer snorkellers got panic of their first snorkelling experience and try to step or worst stomp on everything including the coral. It upsets me a lot. So if you read my articles... I hope you'll care more about this issue. In simple words.. 'DONT STEP ON CORALS!'
7. the inhabitants of Karimun Jawa gather in their 'alun-alun' (city park) every Saturday night. Sometimes the play movie about karimun Jawa for the tourists or... Turn on a loud dangdut music (a famous genre in indonesia which mixed of melay, indian, and arabic music). If you dare on culinary the Bakso Ikan (Fish meatball) sold in Alun-alun is a delight! I find it is not pricey (8000 rupiah)
8. Some tours provide the morning fish market trip. If not you can visit it yourself, they start at 4 am and closed about 5.30 am. There will be varieties of fish that might interest you.
So I wish you a nice stay in Karimun Jawa, and update me when you find more nice 'do' there!

Fresh Magic Gili Trawangan...

ACHTUNG: "Things about Gili Trawangan that i share here is written specially for backpackers and advanturous traveller!!"
The plan was crazy to have holiday in the time while other of my classmates are busy with final project. But after remember about Gili Trawangan island (a.k.a Gili T) hmmm i just can said "HELL YEAH LETS GO THERE!!"... Gili T is located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara - Indonesia. I was there in August 2009 for a day, and believe me a day is never been enough for Gili T.
Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno or Gili Air??You already plan for your visit to Gili Islands, but still confused about which island to stay in? I have a trick! Simply about those islands.....,
Gili Air is the closest to the main island (Lombok Island), among three islands Gili Air has the most local people community and they come from many different tribes in Indonesia, the Giant Clam in underwater and Japanese Ship Wreck.
Gili Meno is most quite among the three Gilis and even well-known for honeymooners. You can snorkell around the island safely. There are many birds species living inside and adorable mini lake in this island. The Meno's Wall is interesting to snorkell or dive.Gili Trawangan has the most facilities and choices from hotels, restaurants, and dive shops. Also known as "Party Island" is a best choice for fun holiday with the interesting nite life atmosphere. Blue corals are the famous attraction for divers beside the Shark, Manta, and other dive spot.
AccomodationI deeply recommend you to go to Gili Islands from Bangsal Harbour, if u are a backpacker type and I did. The harbour could be annoying with the long waiting for passangers (max. 1 hour), dirty, and many local seller. But the price is another reason because you must pay for only 10,000 Rupiah for one way. But there are much choices to reach Gili Islands like by fast boat (from Bali: ± 300,000 Rupiah/person, from Lembar Harbour: ± 200,000 Rupiah/person).I stayed in Pondok Lita Homestay for 16,5 US$/nite, this homestay is recommended by 'Rough Guides'. By my own experience I think the price fits the facility, the room and bathroom is clean and they have a good Pancake for breakfast! The other backpacker-priced places to stay are Rumah Hantu (recommended by Lonely Planet), Aldi Homestay, Marta's, etc. By the high season (June-September) u should book a month before your arrival due to the high demand.
Snorkelling
The days in Gili Trawangan I spent with a monoton activity (but i never get bored): snorkelling and diving. There are always treasures each time i snorkelled. Turtles, Butterflyfish, Triggerfish, Scorpionfish, Seastar, Batfish, and many that i dont know the name.
If you only stay for short time, some shops in Gili T will provide a Snorkelling Trip around Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air with the price 75,000 Rupiah (including mask and fin). But if you stay longer time and wanna be more relax the underwater of Gili T is adorable enough.
To snorkell you'd better go to the east part of Gili T which has more coral and safe enough to swim. We was exploring almost all the east part and best place to start is in the area near The Turtle Conservation, then just go with current. We usually walked back to the start point because in afternoon the current can be strong and exhausting to swim against it.
Butterflyfishes are much to be found while snorkelling and really playful! We brought some cracker while we were snorkelling and spread it, then all the butterflyfishes and other fishes were surrounding us as we were the big attraction for them.. :D Turtles can be found at 8-12 in the morning (a bit north side from the Turtle Conservation).
There are also Picasso Triggerfish whics are really aggresive. We call it 'angry fish' because they always come to us and gave the "go-away-from-here" moves. So we bothered them many times and enjoying their anger, hahahaha! You can also find Titan Triggerfish, the biggest in size among Triggerfish, never play with them! Their teeth are big and sharp and can cause minor injury. But not venomous.. (Triggerfish's mind: "Ok you are bigger but i am crazy!) :P
In the last day of our staying in Gili T, we had a big suprise in our sunset swim, thousands of small fishes were jumping out of the water many times. First we thought that it was raining, because their jumping is quite like rain's sound... BIG SUPRISE, isnt it?? So i am waiting for your present in your snorkelling experince!
Diving
There are over 3,500 marine species living in the reefs and seas of Indonesia. In comparison to the Great Barrier Reef (1,500 species) and Red Sea (600 species), 25 % of all reefs in the world are in Indonesia. The many drop-offs, plateaus and slopes around the Gili's reflect a good cross-section of what Indonesia has to offer.
Many choices of dive shop in Gili Trawangan from Manta Dive, Blue Marlin Dive, Dream Divers, Big Buble, Budha Dive, and Trawangan Dive. They have competitive prices for diving. For fun dive it costs ± 35 US$, discover dive 60 US$, Dive school (3 days) 300 US$. Each day there are 4 regular diving time 6am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, and (by request) nite dive.
Many different diving spots with their own speciality as Shark Point, Manta Point, Meno Wall, Trawangan Slope. Dive sites are located 5 to 25 minutes boat ride from the dive center. This means that if you want to go for a dive, you actually do spend more time in the water than on the boat.

HAPPINESS
We convince ourselves hat life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another.
Then we're frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they grow up.
After that, we're frustrated that we have teenager to deal with.
We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse get his or her act together, when we get a nice car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire.
Then the truth is there's no better time to be happy than tight now.
If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.
Its best to admit yourself and decide to be happy anyway.
Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with and
remember... times wait for no one.
So STOP WAITING...
until your car or home is paid off
until you get a new car or home
until your kids leave the house
until you go back to school
until you lose 4 kilograms
until you gain 4 kilograms
until you get married
until you have kids
until you retire
until Summer
until Spring
until Fall
until Winter
until you die.....
there's no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
So work like you dont need money
Love like you've never been hurt
and dance like no one is watching

Imagine a house on the beach. A nice breezy wind, the cool damp sand on the bottom of your bare feet and the soothing sting of cool water to tickle your toes. Yes, thats right. I could say sea is heaven of the

I am Snorkelling
If you are afraid of swimming in the sea.. Huh it sounds like me. Before i begin my first snorkell i am always afraid of swimming in the sea. But a friend of mine, Manta-his nick, who is a diving instructor convinced me to see more the miracle of Underwater..
Actually i cant remember my first snorkelling. Where it was. ^_^
When someone asked me how is it like to snorkell or dive. I always worry if i cant explain how fabulous it is. Words arent good enough to describe. Seeing the dancing fishes touched by light or the colourful corals wiped by the stream in silent. Thanks God for living in Indonesia.
Nothing to loose when you eager your bravery to put your snorkell and jump in the sea... Coming into a new dimension of earth. The yet unrevealed beauty
X.O.X.O from sea
